Lost some items

When I was making the lake deeper I somehow got disconnected from the server.
I tried to log in for the next half hour and it kept saying bad login.
When I finally logged in i was dead, with no items anywhere. I even broke all the blocks around the place where I died and there was nothing.

Among the more valuable items lost were half full diamond pick and shovel, around 12 diamonds, 6 stacks of pine wood. Other items were mostly cobblestone and snow.

I have seen d3 working with the diamond pick and shovel when building the road to the port. And we cut the pines together.
